Happy Spring from the In2:InThinking Network!
With spring now officially in the air, and April showers predicted to bring May flowers, we're proud to announce plans for our 2014 Forum, set for June 18th - 22nd in Los Angeles, California.
Join us for the first time, or 13th time, as we celebrate another year of providing access to novel ideas that are essential to teamwork in any organization, with a simple theory that the ability to work together and learn together is built upon a foundation of thinking together. In a repeat of the design of our 2013 Forum, this year's Forum includes:
- A change in venue from Aerojet Rocketdyne's Canoga Park offices and the Hilton Woodland Hills to nearby California State University, Northridge (CSUN)
- A change in length our from six (6) days to five (5) days; we'll start on Wednesday, June 18th, with three (3) days of Pre-Conference sessions and end on Sunday, June 22nd
- No Post-Conference sessions
- The option of webcast viewing of our Weekend Conference presentations for those who can't join us in Los Angeles.
- A collaboration with our Forum partners at CSUN in their efforts to present a 1-day innovation conference (The Art of Innovation) on Friday, June 20th, with a discount offer for anyone attending our Weekend Conference as well
For our Forum Team, these design changes represent one less day for planning. For our attendees, this represents one less day away from your families. And, for those traveling more than a few hours to Los Angeles, our "Wednesday through Sunday" schedule keeps your time with us within one calendar week. Link here to download our Forum brochure, filled with details on the entire program.
Aside from these new features, we're proud to continue our tradition of offering a registration fee of $400 to our Weekend Conference, with a $50 discount for registrations received before May 7th. With our habit of team work and through the dedication and "pay it forward" outlook of our presenters, we're also pleased to maintain our tradition of offering an exceptional collection of Pre-Conference sessions. This year, we're offering 14 sessions in three parallel-tracks over three (3) days, all free with the exception of one session which includes a $40 material fee.
As always, bring your ideas, stories, experiences, challenges, and opportunities to share and explore with peers in an environment that is always open to possibilities. Whatever you decide, we invite you to join us for half a day or all five (5) days and take advantage of our once-a-year voyage, where our partnership with attendees, presenters, and a growing list of "Partners InThinking" continues to provide a Forum of exceptional ideas for an exceptional value.
We are proud to announce that registration is now open for our 2014 Forum, titled:
Succeed with Inquiry: Insights, Knowledge, Action
Dr. Deming reminded each of us that we have three sources of power:
1) Formal [where we fall in an organization's hierarchy]
2) Knowledge
3) Personality
Dr. Deming added that "A successful leader develops 2 and 3: does not rely on no. 1. He has nevertheless obligation to use no.1, as this source of power enables him to change the system - equipment, methods, materials - to bring improvement...." As designed, our 2014 Forum ("Succeed With Inquiry: Insights, Knowledge, Action") will address the second form of power, knowledge (from inquiry). The third form, personality, is the focus for our 2015 Forum, titled "Break the Mold: Aspire, Inspire, Achieve."
Our 5-day Forum begins with three (3) days of Pre-Conference sessions on
June 18th, from 7:00am - 7:15pm June 19th, from 7:00am - 4:15pm June 20th, from 7:00am - 4:15pm
with 14 sessions to choose from. All, except for one session, What We're Learning About the Brain, are being offered without any fee to attend. Add to this schedule our Weekend Conference (on June 20th (5:00pm) - June 22nd (12:00pm), for a registration fee ($350 before May 7th) and the result is our 5-day Forum.
As designed, our 2014 Forum aims to promote an environment where compelling ideas and insights will evolve from an exposure to new thoughts and open minds. (And these ideas and insights may lead you in untold exciting directions in your work and life after the Forum.)
And now, we ask you to invest a few minutes of your time for a glimpse of the many dimensions of our 2014 Forum website (with summary details below) and, to consider what you will experience at our Forum, join us in June.
When you are ready, link below to register;
If you are not ready to register, but are likely to attend, please complete our RSVP Survey to help us with attendee estimates in our planning efforts.
Regarding housing, note that we have secured residence hall housing at CSUN as one of two planned options for lodging. The other option is the use of the nearby Airtel Plaza Hotel. Information on both options for housing can be found at this link. Please note that residence hall housing must be reserved by June 6th. Our discounted room rates at the Airtel Plaza Hotel are valid through June 18th.
Best regards!

In2:InThinking Network 2014 Forum
Succeed with Inquiry: Insights, Knowledge, Action
Each month, we join with Aerojet Rocketdyne's (AR) InThinking Network to invite you to participate in a conference call with esteemed Thought Leaders and meet them mind-to-mind through the 15th year of Ongoing Discussion conference calls. We're also partnering with AR in 2014 on their InThinking Roadmap efforts, the "Better Thinking About..." webinars, now in operation for a third year. Once a year, we invite you to meet such Thought Leaders and fellow Network members; and meet them both mind-to-mind and face-to-face. Soon, it will be time to reconvene in Los Angeles.
Through our planning efforts, we selected a Forum theme which is inspired by the efforts of our members to engage in thinking transformations. This year we celebrate the ability of our members to inquire, reflect on new insights, acquire new knowledge, and act on this knowledge. This year's presentations will provide us with ample opportunities to explore the potential for thinking together, learning together, and working together.
Bill Scherkenbach will get our thinking off the ground with an opening keynote on Friday night, titled "Breakthrough Inquiry." Glenna Gerard, will follow on Saturday morning with a session titled, "Inquiry as a Portal for Collective Insight, Wisdom, and Innovation." Later that day, John Carlisle, will share insights in a session titled, "Negotiation as Inquiry: Putting Legs on Deming's Points for Management 4 and 9." At press time, we are still working to confirm our closing keynote speaker on Sunday morning.
In between, we'll be provoked on topics ranging from Inquiring Beautiful Minds to The Fragality of Knowledge to What World Are We In? with Bill Bellows, Ariane David, Glenna Gerard, Don McAlister, Gipsie Ranney, Ravi Roy, Kennan Kellaris Salinero, and Peter Stonefield. And, let us not forget an evening with musical guest, Lisa Tenorio, on Saturday night, along with special guests Leslie Garman and David Ewart. Link here to watch a video of their performance at our 2013 Forum.
